At Jane Farver's request, writes up first installment of Personal Chronology for catalogue of twenty-year retrospective, Adrian Piper: Reflections 1967-1987, which opens at the Alternative Museum and travels around the country (through 1991). Meets members of a "white" branch of the Piper family at opening of retrospective in Atlanta, Georgia. Awarded National Endowment of the Humanities (NEH) Summer Stipend to complete Kant chapter of Rationality and the Structure of the Self.
